How the Star is causing chaos to Nation and Standard

The new kid on the block The Star newspaper is apparently causing business chaos and headache to mainstream papers like the Nation and the Standard.

While the bulky papers sell at 50/= the small tabloid like paper is 45/=. almost the same price!

Word on the street is that, its true that, "smart people read the star". Vendors now have to have several copies of the star with them as they try to sell the other mainstream papers.

Seemingly, the Star's style of reporting and sensational headlines which are always somewhat alarmist in nature is quite exciting to the public.

It looks like the election mood has changed the playing field a bit because the public want things that they think are less censored and not advertiser-influenced.

Proof of this is that The Daily Nation and The Standard once in a while share the same headline with "the tabloid". (12th April 2012)

This is the kind of competition Kenyans want so long as we are not fed trash.
