Kenyan Celebs and adverts

If you are a Kenyan celebrity and you are not in an advert, be worried, very worried because it seems it is the in thing in advertising

Jalang’o and Otoyo and Wilbroda in ng’ombe molo milk; Mc  jesse of Churchill in santa lucia; Shish of tahidi in bolt; Congestina in tuskys; Melvin of Tahidi in dumu zas; Gody of Changes in Guinness; Sarah Hassan (Tanya) of tahidi in air freshner; Miss Morgan in Naivas and many many others

This is actually the latest trend in advertising in Kenya. Using celebrities to endorse products. We’ll see how far that goes.

Does this mean that creativity in Kenya has died down hence the resort to celebs for advertising.

I still don’t understand how they got Churchill to endorse Qfm, in as much as it is boring, I care less anyway, but I thought radio free Africa would care about one of their own endorsing a competitor

Anyway, no worries, as it has been said, “siasa za peni mbili za ja mtaa”

Afc vs Gor mahia Peace mission or political stunt?

So, the two most celebrated sides in Kenyan football; Gor k’ogallo and Afc leopards faced off at Nyayo stadium Saturday the 17th December.

This match was called the peace cup or whatever the name they called it. Price money: a whooping 1 million!!, half a million for the loser!! And 250K for participation!!! Wow!

Question is, why Gor and Afc? why peace cup? it’s not like Luos and Luhyas are fighting.. Why the presence of some politicians? Furthermore, the money could be put to better use by the NCIC.

Here is the speculation: some big fish somewhere is trying by all means to tap into the so called Western Alliance vote, and sure enough, money is talking.

Whether they have succeeded or not, 2012 will tell, but sure enough there is a chance it might work because football can be quite a binding game!

Anyway, no worries, as it has been said, “siasa za peni mbili za ja mtaa”

Lawyer Paul Mwangi the new Miguna for the PM?!!!

I say the new Miguna because I don’t know what the post is; it keeps changing; from political adviser (Tony Gachoka) to adviser on coalition matters (Miguna Miguna) to now legal adviser (Paul Mwangi)

I guess you must have heard by now, that Paul Mwangi has taken the place of defunct Miguna Miguna. One, smart move by Odinga; two, timely. I mean, coming at this time when tribalism is at its peak in Kenya.

I remember Tony Gachoka,(quite an un ceremonial exit) then Miguna, (both dramatic and un ceremonial) and now Mwangi. I am almost sure this isn’t gonna end well for you; but enjoy while it still last.

Smart move. Taking someone so familiar in the eyes of the public (at least we have heard him speak and we know what he stands for) and also known not to be a sycophant
Gotta credit Odinga for always being ahead of the pack, constantly!! I mean, the guy knows how to stay on news (both heka heka and Sunday live-politics)the guy also knows how to stay relevant. (changing with the times)

I must admit that even if this move is pretence, you gotta be brave to pull this off, firing one of “your own” and replacing with one of the opposite “whatever”

I wonder what will happen to Mwangi on Citizen TV. I guess he will have to leave the show coz he is now officially a lap dog.

Anyway, no worries, as it has been said, “siasa za peni mbili za ja mtaa”

I hear KANU is changing its name

It will be no longer KANU for “Kenya African…” but KANU for Kenya Alliance...” I wonder what has changed. KANU is still KANU. The symbol remains the same.

Don’t lie to yourselves, whenever we hear KANU, a few things come to mind; “24 solid years of dictatorship”, “chama cha baba na mama”, “KANU will rule for the next 100 years”, “Nyayo house torture chambers”, “one party state”, “detention without trial”… the list is endless

Don’t bother changing the name. What you can do is ditch the party and form another one or wait until Kenyans have no other choice other than to join your party. Otherwise KANU will remain Moi’s and Kenyatta’s party.

Anyway, no worries, as it has been said, “siasa za peni mbili za ja mtaa”

Seen on facebook Very funny

“ati kuolewa na mluya ni kama kufanya kazi kwa hoteli, kupika ugali 24-7” hehehehehe. Made my weekend! Though it might pass as hate speech, we must look at some of these things as just statements to make us laugh.
