Karua to replace Mudavadi in ODM

Gichugu member of parliament Martha Karua is set to replace Musalia Mudavadi in ODM as the Sabatia member of parliament and Deputy Prime Minister, who is also deputy party leader at ODM, prepares to leave.

The never ending wrangles and controversy surrounding the ODM presidential nominations have prompted Mudavadi's allies to push him outside the party.

The long awaited move which has remained eminent all over the place and amplified by the media, has now come. Mudavadi who is apparently shocked by Odinga's inability or unwillingness to tame the likes of Nyong'o, Midiwo, Orengo, Kajwang', Bishop Wanjiru who have increasingly hurled insults at Mudavadi thereby beating the essence of friendly fire.

In an interesting twist to the whole issue, Martha Karua is said to be warming up for ODM as an affiliate member and as someone who has the same interest as ODM.

The famously-referred to as "the iron lady" who in 2008 fiercely defended Kibaki's regime against Raila and insisted that Kibaki had won the election is set for an about urn by supporting odinga and being his running mate.

The "chini ya maji" move has also brought disquiet in ODM as some members feel that Karua does not bring any constituency (voting block) with her. some have also argued that Karua is more like Raila in nature therefore ODM needed a more less controversial figure.

Those who are comfortable with her say  that she brings to the table the gender card which they argue can be the swing vote in the elections. they also argue that Karua has a clean record and is a proven reformer.

Intel within ODM also say that the effect of Mudavadi leaving the party can be put out since there is still more time to the elections and there will be enough time for "disaster management"

Fingers crossed, we wait to see.

  1. Martha, "A reformer" Give me a break. She has not appologized to the many lives lost, maimed, displaced etc. She was the reason we have a caricuture for president. Remember the swearing in at dusk, KICC surrounded by the GSU - I'm still shedding tears of sadness for nobody else buth Martha Karua. Reformers stay the course all the time not when it is convinient for their sociopolitical and/or economic milage

  2. Hey man, you want Martha to apologize? if she was in the Hague list then she should apologize, but she is not.
    instead, the others are.
You must know that without that rule of law, we would not even have a govt now.
the ones who need to apologize are sitting right on top of power, and you know them.
