Karua to pull out of race!

Guchugu member of parliament Martha Karua will not run for president in the coming elections, reliable reports say.

Excitement greeted Martha Karua when she left Kibaki's government and announced her bid for the presidency but this has since changed with some of her supporters now realizing that she might not be as good as they thought.

Her standings in opinion polls might also have contributed to this lukewarm attitude her supporters are having. She seems not to beat an average of 5% in these polls.

Bill in Parliament

Reliable sources also say that she is behind the recent bill in parliament which sought to give presidential contenders a soft landing if they fail to clinch the presidency and allow their respective parties to nominate them to the Senate and Parliament.

The bill was fully supported by Narc-Kenya party and Mungatana also voiced his support.

People from within her circle claim that she might have started looking for other options as the prospect of becoming president seems to be dimmer and dimmer each day.

Recently  in parliament, she purported to be the official leader of the opposition in Parliament, a position which does not exist since the PM and the president signed the National Accord in 2008.

Alliances

Karua is said to be looking for any alliance that might place her in a position to be Vice President or The leader of Majority in Parliament.

She has been linked to Raila Odinga in the recent past.
