SK Macharia to buy chopper for campaigns

Royal media's SK Macharia has reportedly flown to the United States to buy a chopper for the coming elections.

Dr. SK Macharia is not standing but wants Royal Media limited to take the lead in the coverage of the election campaigns.

The idea of the chopper is said to have come to the entrepreneur's attention after the realization that his team of journalists will not be able to traverse the whole country in the vans following politicians who will be hopping from one event to the other.

The helicopter will be used to fly journalists from one political rally to the other and prevent Royal Media's journalists from taking lifts in politicians' planes.

SK Macharia is said to be targeting to make a killing from the campaigns. This may be mainly because, in Kenya, the coverage of the election period determines how the media house is going to survive in the next five years after the elections.

It can still be remembered that KTN was the most prominent TV stations in the run up and shortly after the elections of 2007. Whatever happened after that, the current government can answer.
